These are exciting times for flight simulation. It seems everybody has found the contributor in themselves, be it with articles, reviews, scenery, aircraft, or any of the other ingredients that keep our community bouncy.
Logically, enterprising individuals will appear, wishing to capitalise on this synergy. This is healthy and good. The more competition there is, the higher the quality of the content and the products. We will all benefit from that!
However, at this stage many contributors haven’t yet learned that their time and work matters, and that some projects they are pouring their sweat into are in truth commercial in their nature. The owners, either by mistake or on purpose, forget to tell their contributors they are also unwilling investors, without pay nor shares.
Contributor: value your time and your effort. For a genuinely free venture keep on giving your heart and soul gratis. But if you discover you are participating in what is going to be a commercial enterprise, ask for an honest fee.
Otherwise you are being abused.
