With her unique knack to make me happy, my wife did it again. She came to me last week and said: “hey, propellerhead, I just found out this weekend there’s an important fly-in near Tampere, and I thought you’d like to go. I’ve booked a hotel that overlooks the runway. Let’s go.”
So we went, and I was happy. Thank you, my love.
The Jämi Fly-in has been taking place for some years now, although this time it looked like it was going to be big. Jämi is a turistic resort located in Jämijärvi, about 45′ from the big city of Tampere. It’s a very beautiful place for summer and winter activities.
The event took place during the whole weekend, with aircraft arriving Friday evening, in spite of the showers and threatening skies. I went down to the runway to snap some late shots of the nearby parked birds. I got wet but was loving it. Rainbow told me Saturday was going to be a great day!
Skydivers judged it was ok to go up there, mounted on their 206 Stationair and came down punching holes in the ominous summer sky. I could watch all of this from the balcony of my room, three stories high over the runway!
